SMS marketing saw a steady growth in 2016-2017
A recently published global report shed some light on the state of affairs in SMS and email marketing. According to presented data, SMS ads grew by 142% over the past two years, coming to close short to video advertisements.
South African marketing services reported similar trends. Statistics show that the number of sent SMS increased from approximately 2 billion in 2016 to 3 billion in 2017. A similar trend was seen with the volume of sent emails. Both text messages and emails retained a high level of open rate.
SMS and emails are mostly used for building customer loyalty, cross-sales and keeping customers interested. In order to attract new clients, companies are more prone to use paid social media ads. They are not as engaging as SMS and emails, but have a higher potential customer reach.
